A financing review is an initial assessment of potential fit. It is not an approval, commitment, rate quote, or promise of financing terms.

Strong Review Request

The Better the Facts, the Cleaner the Review

Your request does not need to be perfect. It only needs to provide a clear picture of the receivables, the customers who owe them, and the cash-flow problem you are trying to solve.

Do not overthink the first step.

A useful review looks beyond how much money is needed. It considers whether the invoices represent completed work, whether the customers are likely to pay, and whether the documentation supports the amount owed.

1

Commercial Customers

The strongest situations generally involve invoices owed by businesses, contractors, distributors, municipalities, agencies, or other commercial customers.

2

Completed Work

Review is generally easier when the service has been performed, the product delivered, the project milestone completed, or the billing period fully earned.

3

Issued Invoices

Actual invoices showing the customer, amount, invoice date, payment terms, and due date are more useful than projections or expected future sales.

4

Customers Expected to Pay

A slow-paying but dependable customer is different from a customer disputing the work, rejecting the invoice, or showing serious payment problems.

5

Supporting Documentation

Helpful records can include an aging report, purchase order, contract, proof of delivery, signed work ticket, service confirmation, or customer approval.

6

A Specific Cash Need

Explain whether the working capital is needed for payroll, fuel, materials, vendors, subcontractors, growth, a bank delay, or another identifiable timing gap.

The Practical Question: Are the Invoices Useful?

If another business or government customer owes you money for completed work, the receivables may be worth reviewing. Additional documentation or clarification can be requested after the initial submission.

Poor-Fit Situations

Not Every Invoice Is a Financing Asset

Invoice factoring works best when a legitimate business or government customer owes money for completed work. Some situations are difficult to finance regardless of how urgently cash is needed.

A financing review cannot turn a disputed or unearned invoice into collectible collateral.

Being direct about problems does not automatically disqualify the request. Hiding them usually makes the review slower and less useful.

Consumer Receivables

Invoices owed primarily by individual consumers generally do not fit traditional commercial invoice factoring.

Work Not Yet Completed

Purchase orders, proposals, projected sales, unsigned contracts, and future work are not the same as completed and invoiced obligations.

Disputed Invoices

Claims involving defective work, incomplete delivery, offsets, chargebacks, pricing disagreements, or customer refusal to pay are difficult to finance.

Severely Past-Due Accounts

Very old invoices may be treated as collection problems rather than ordinary working-capital assets.

Weak or Unverifiable Documentation

Missing invoices, unclear billing, unverifiable delivery, or an inability to confirm the amount owed can prevent approval.

Customers Unlikely to Pay

Factoring depends heavily on the customer’s ability and obligation to pay. A weak or insolvent customer can make an otherwise valid invoice unusable.

Unsure Whether Your Situation Fits?

Describe the facts accurately in the review form. A difficult situation is not necessarily an automatic decline, but the invoices, customers, documentation, and payment risk must be evaluated honestly.
